Students work in groups of four. Each group chooses from several controversial issues in biology that involve the use of technology. Information concerning both sides of the issue is supplied by the teacher, but groups may need to do additional outside research to fully develop their topic. Students select the decision making model that is most appropriate to their issue, and generate a decision which will resolve that issue. They share their decisions, as well as the process that they used to reach that decision, with the rest of the class. The rubrics for Complex Thinking skills, Content Outcomes, Learner Outcomes have been developed.
