[OED]: 5. a. More generally: the action or process of moving or being moved, with respect to place or position; (Math.) the condition of a body or a mathematical object such as a point, line, etc., when at each successive point in time it occupies a different position or orientation in space.

Movement, flow (q.v.), shift, transport of objects relative to the surroundings, internal motion, rotations; motions of objects such as rotation of the Earth; pitch, roll and yaw of aircraft and vessels; growth of organisms.
